Vietnam from North to South: Mountains, Markets & Seaside Magic
Vietnam isn’t just a destination—it’s an epic journey. From misty mountains and vibrant street life to dreamy coastlines and lush islands, every region tells a completely different story. I started my trip up north in Hanoi, winding my way down through Sapa, Phong Nha, Hoi An, and finally landing on the white sands of Phú Quốc. Along the way, I mixed authentic adventures with indulgent moments—and it made for the perfect balance.
Hanoi: Buzzing Streets & Hidden Cafés
My adventure began in Hanoi, a city that immediately sweeps you into its rhythm. The sound of scooters, the smell of sizzling street food, and the layers of history give it a raw, irresistible energy.
I spent my days wandering the Old Quarter, sipping egg coffee in tucked-away cafés, and browsing markets for silk, ceramics, and handmade goodies. Don’t miss the sunset at Hoàn Kiếm Lake—it’s when the city slows down just enough to breathe it all in
Ninh Bình: River Landscapes & Temple Vibes
Next came Ninh Bình, often called “Ha Long Bay on land”—and it’s easy to see why. Towering limestone cliffs rise straight out of emerald green rice paddies.
I took a traditional sampan boat ride through the Tam Coc, and I didn't get a chance to climb the steps of Hang Múa. Personally, I thought it was a tourist trap, and instead I found a peaceful lakeside cafe with puppies, sounds even better if you ask me. If you're looking for somewhere peaceful yet dramatic, this is it
Đà Nẵng: Ocean Breeze & Hotel Luxury
Time for a splurge! In Đà Nẵng, I treated myself to a luxe night at the InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort, and it was absolutely worth it. Nestled in a private bay, the views were jaw-dropping and the design was a perfect mix of Vietnamese culture and modern luxury.
Whether you’re lounging by the infinity pool or enjoying the spa, this place feels like its own little world
Ho Chi Minh City: Rooftops & Urban Pulse
Landing in Ho Chi Minh City was like stepping into the future. Skyscrapers, rooftop bars, designer shops, and a whole new tempo.I explored Bến Thành Market, learned more about the country’s history at the War Remnants Museum, and watched the city light up from a rooftop bar in District 1. It's busy and bold—but if you dive in, you’ll find incredible stories and seriously good food.
Sapa: Terraced Hills & Trekking Trails
From Hanoi, I headed to Sapa—a dramatic shift in pace and scenery. Surrounded by mountains and mist, this northern gem is home to some of the most breathtaking landscapes in Vietnam.
I went on a two-day trek through rice terraces, guided by a woman from a local ethnic minority group. We passed water buffalo, hiked through clouds, and stayed in a simple homestay where the food was cooked over an open fire. It was raw, real, and deeply grounding
Phong Nha: Farmstays & Duck Laughs
Onward to Phong Nha, home to some of the most magnificent caves in the world. But my favorite part? Staying at a farmstay tucked in the countryside, where mornings meant watching cows graze and nights were spent under a canopy of stars.
A highlight was visiting The Duck Stop—yes, it’s as fun as it sounds. Feeding ducks, laughing with locals, and bouncing along back roads on a scooter made for the kind of travel memories you never expect but always remember
Hội An: Lanterns & Tailor-Made Moments
Next stop: Hội An, the city that feels like a painting. I wandered through lantern-lit alleys, had clothes tailored overnight (yes, it’s that fast), and sampled the most flavorful cao lầu noodles under a canopy of glowing lanterns.
The vibe here is gentle and creative. Whether you're floating a candle down the river or picking out handmade leather sandals, Hội An has a way of slowing you down in the best way.
Phú Quốc: Island Escape & Bungalow Bliss
I ended my journey in paradise: Phú Quốc Island. For the first few days, I splurged at The Regent Phú Quốc, an ultra-luxurious beachfront retreat that made every moment feel like a dream. Picture private pools, spa rituals, and service that anticipates what you want before you even ask.
After that, I shifted gears and moved into a cozy beach bungalow—feet in the sand, sunsets from the porch, and nothing but waves and fresh coconuts to keep time
